The Home
is registered for 55 beds and 8 day care placements. We
also have 3 respite care places and enquiries for respite care are
welcome.
Resident
Rooms:
Accommodation is
provided in single rooms of various sizes to suit individual needs
with the addition of two double rooms. All rooms comply with
National Minimum Standards and residents are encouraged to
personalise their room with their own furnishings.
Toilets
and Bathrooms
Our newest rooms have en suite
facilities but there are also 21 toilets all equipped for use by
people with disabilities. There are four large bathrooms, equipped
with large height adjustable baths, and seven shower rooms. All
shower rooms are large enough to accommodate either a shower chair
or a shower trolley. All these rooms are fitted with
locks.
Corridors
and Lifts
Our wide
corridors enable wheelchair access and turning space and there are
four lifts, all providing ample space and access for wheelchair
users. Two lifts easily accommodate a bed or trolley.
Recreational
Areas
There are
spa cious recreational areas
including a sun lounge, activities lounge, a large function room
and an adjacent café/shop/bar.
There is also a spacious restaurant with panoramic views of the
sea.
The
function room is available for hire for private functions, such as
wedding receptions, parties etc. at a modest charge and we
especially welcome enquiries from associated organisations,
including disability and ex-services groups.
Our fully networked and
newly refurbished Computer Activities Centre has computers
with special hardware and software to enable full participation by
disabled people. Under the supervision of our in-house IT
Project Supervisor, we provide a wide range of courses and
activities to enable our service users to make the most of this
facility.
The
therapy gym provides a facility where service users can carry out
an exercise programme under the guidance of the
physiotherapy.team Equipment available includes a tilt table,
an electric standing frame, an active-passive trainer and a
versitrainer. Service users are provided with an exercise programme
tailored to meet their individual need and those who are unable to
attend the gym will have their treatment programme carried out in
their room.
As well
as our in-house facilities, we regularly expand our therapy service
to locations outside the home including visits to a nearby fully
equipped gym and swimming pool. We also encourage
participation in outdoor carriage driving, courtesy of Riding for
the Disabled.
Our newly
refurbished CASBAR café, shop and bar provides a full bar facility
as well as coffee, snacks, confectionery and novelty items to
purchase, and is a great spot for visitors to spend a while with us
and overlooks our garden.
We also
have a refurbished art room with individual and communal height
adjustable work stations with remote controlled lighting, and
regularly run art courses using the Bob Ross ‘Wet on Wet’
technique, and also encourage experimentation with other media and
techniques. The art group regularly exhibits in-house
and at local venues.
Gardens
and Grounds
Chaseley has a large terraced
garden with lawns overlooking the sea with views towards Beachy
Head, and a large recently built decked area (left). There are
terraces and patios with sheltered areas ideal for sitting and
enjoying the view. A fishpond surrounded by shrubs, raised gardens
and a sensory garden provides interest and enjoyment for all. A
resident has designed and supervised the planting of an Elizabethan
Knot Garden providing many herbs used by Chef.
Parking
is available within the grounds for service users and
visitors.
Transport:
Our
modern transport has been provided entirely through donations, and
comprises:
Our coach, which can
easily accommodate five people in wheelchairs and their carers. It
has air suspension that allows the coach to ‘sit’ at the back to
give easy ramp access and also features climate control, blinds to
the windows and comfortable high level seat belt
restraints.
Our VW
Transporter mini bus, which can accommodate two wheelchairs, and is
used for everyday trips and outings.
